My Artist Statement as BOSH?

Stories should be told. Variety is the slice of life that you’re served at a given point in time. Or should I say, more relatably, that “variety is the spice of life” – and so stories must be told…

In Defense of Kyle Rittenhouse ?

The verdict is either still stinging you or it made your week. It either validated your belief that no matter what you as an American have the right to defend yourself or this justice system is so screwed up that even killing a white person who supports black issues comes with no consequences.

Let’s not waste time on trying to defend Kyle or condemn him from either of those very contrasting views. Because media outlets on the left and right are currently piling up clicks as we speak do that right now. The one true undisputed fact of this whole saga is that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Kyle was guilty of murder which is the reason why he is at home right now. What we need to discuss is how did we get here and is Kyle a symptom of our modern American society or the disease.

2020 saw Millions of Americans mobilize in the streets (and social media) to voice their concerns on the problem of policing in this country. Simply put Officers are charged with protecting our God given (or “creator given”) rights, but we have seen stories where the actions of some cops prove that this doesn’t always happen.

Depending on where you grew up your perception of law and order will be very different. You either live in fear or have great comfort that law enforcement (or even a regular citizen) will do what is needed to protect you, your life and property. We can go on and on about the issues of law enforcement, but the issue at hand in this case was vigilantism.

Now disclaimer I am a gun owner, an owner of many guns to be more accurate, but I still can not grasp the concept of taking those guns and going into an area of danger in order to police it. I believe in the God given right to self defense as my life and personal liberty are ultimately up to me to look after. Yet when someone arms themselves and ventures out to be the hero there is where I get off the train. The rise in vigilante actions can (in my opinion) be tied to the modern American’s compulsion to be seen as being the hero.

People post on social media dropping off food or clothes to the homeless or other kind acts just for the approval of others. People are also seen on social media harassing and sticking their nose where it doesn’t belong. I hate the term Karen, but this is what I’m talking about. People in Modern America have a big problem minding their own business and often it has tragic results.

Side note I find it ironic that people who share my views (small government, libertarian or conservative) are Ok with people going out of their dome of safety to police other locales in a quasi authoritative , but whatever.

Any way ,Why was Kyle even there?

It wasn’t his family’s business and if he did want to use his right as an American to counter protest he could have gone about it a different way. I love Sporting Riffles (AR-15s and similar),but I’m not bringing one with me to a protest. I’m also not going to go into the belly of the beast if I feel threatened. If I needed to side carry my Glock-17 to a protest to feel safe, that might be one that I’d skip. I think that where we are in modern America is what got Kyle to get over those hesitations that I have with going into a dangerous situation armed. He wanted to be the crusader ,the hero and dare I say it “white knight”. Its the culture that we are in in 21st century America (Remember Zimmerman?) that tempts us with this constant need to be seen doing good things. It will be one of the many things that will eventually bring down this Republic of ours. Again I didn’t want to argue on his guilt or innocence, but paint the picture that if we don’t start minding our own business that we will be in a bad spot as a society as a whole.

In Kenosha Wisconsin a protest or riot (take your pick) took place. It culminated in a deadly shooting with the loss of life. I’m not so sure it had to end that way.

I wonder what would have happened if Kyle put more effort into worrying about his own immediate safety and liberty instead of getting into his car and leaving his home state that night? I don’t know, but maybe we need to start minding our own business as Americans because as we have seen sometimes the results of not doing so could be catastrophic.
