Childhood days of Piedade Fernandes

The 1st of October is celebrated as the International Day of Older Persons. Older people being senior in age are our link to the past.They are our daiz (heritage) as it is through them that we get to know about the past on first hand basis.

I have shared here the link of an interview in Konkani language of an 85 year old Ms. Piedade Fernandes a.k.a. Premavati Vengurlekar. She was interviewed by me on her birthday, the 15th of December 2020.

Ms. Piedade belongs to the Christian Gauda community from a village in Verna in Goa and was married to late Mr. Pralhad Vengurlekar from Vasco, a port town in Goa. In her younger days she was a domestic help at my parents' house in Vasco. In this interview she recollects about life in Goa in her childhood days in Verna as well as the days of her youthhood at my parents' place.
