Gender switch

Have you ever wondered whether a man or woman — or, indeed, anyone else — is doing right by what they do? I mean in biz, in life, in emotions, in sex — in relation to any endeavour, for that matter.

Try one simple trick — a trick of reframing; a photographer’s trick; a trick a wonderful Spanish business thinker I once heard of used to do at the beginning of his sessions: to everyone, he would ask them all — before they got started — to take off their watches and put them on the opposite wrists.

The uncanny nature of feeling suddenly strange in the presence and weight of a totally familiar object is mind-expanding in the extreme.

So. In the case that is the subject of this post, if you wish to determine how good and honest and sincere and acceptable a person’s behaviour, position and way of being might be, just switch their gender.

And see how wrong — or mebbe right!— it all suddenly becomes.
