Running from the Ring

I’m not ready!

You might have been with someone for a while and though the two of you might love and care about each other, you might have one issue. You might have an issue that your partner bought a ring and proposed marriage and you aren’t ready. So, what do you do if you aren’t ready to marry your partner? How do you approach this type of situation? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Talk to your partner about this issue.

Discuss this issue with your partner and let him or her know how you feel about it. Listen to how your partner feels about the issue. Try to come up with a solution that works for both of you.

2. Come up with a goal.

If you aren’t ready to marry your partner now, but you feel like you will be ready to marry him or her in the future, then try to come up with a date that works for both of you. Maybe, the two of you are still studying at the university, and you want to wait until you graduate. Maybe, you are trying to get comfortable at your current job. Whatever the case is, work together to create a timeline that works with both of your interests in mind.

3. Be honest.

If you just need more time to think about it, and you don’t know when you will be ready to marry your partner, then be honest. You can get a promise ring if you want to be with him or her and don’t see yourself with anyone else. This might help you show your partner that despite your hesitation to marry him or her, you are serious about him or her. Do what you need to do, to be honest about the state of your current relationship and where you see it going.

If you have been with someone for a while but you have an issue that your partner bought a ring for you and asked you to marry him or her and you aren’t ready, talk to him or her about this issue. Come up with a relationship goal, and do your best to be honest about the future of your relationship.
