Backpack Hitchhiker

I was alone on the trail . . . or so I thought

My daily walk took me over rocks and across streams. When I got to the old cabin, I set down my daypack to pull out my snack. That’s when I met the commuter.

Who knows how he got there? I assume he dropped from a tree and shudder at the thought. If his aim had been worse, this might be a more exciting tale.

I like to think he’s an arachnid with a penchant for travel. It would take his entire life walking to get where I took him. So he hitched a ride.

Google says he’s a “devil scorpion” but maybe he’s just misunderstood.
